Multi-Function Digital Basal Thermometer Review

If you’re looking forward to taking charge of your fertility, you’ll find so many products, ranging from basal thermometers to fertility monitors and ovulation kits, that you might not know what would work best for you. Think temping is for you? You might want to learn more about the Multi-Function Digital Basal Thermometer (or iSnow-Med Basal Thermometer) and what it can or cannot offer.

Features of the Multi-Function Digital Basal Thermometer

Unit of Measurement: Degree Fahrenheit and Celsius | Basal Body Temperature (BBT) Chart: Included | Battery: Replaceable | Warranty: 1 year

This clinical-grade digital basal thermometer is designed to meet the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) standards for accurate BBT measurements.

You can use the thermometer to measure your oral, axillary, rectal, or vaginal temperature; however, for the sake of convenience, it is recommended that you measure your oral temperature, which is more accurate than your axillary temperature. The thermometer will measure and display your temperature to the 1/1ooth of a degree (in Fahrenheit or Celsius).

This digital basal thermometer also features a large LCD monitor with a blue backlight, making it easy for you to read your temperature even in a dark room. Its inbuilt alarm clock permits you to set the time so that you can wake up and measure your temperature every day at the same time.

How to Use the Thermometer

It is important that you read the instruction manual to get the most out of this digital basal thermometer. You would experience difficulties if you neglect to follow the instructions and might not be able to use the thermometer.

If you encounter difficulties using your thermometer, try turning it off and pressing the I/O/S button to turn it on. Then place the thermometer in your mouth after it flashes and “—-F”. It should measure your temperature and beep after approximately two minutes later when it is done. However, if the problem still persists, you would have to contact the seller for support.

Using the Alarm Feature

You can set up the alarm and it will beep at the same time every morning so that you can measure your BBT. Remember that for the best results, it is preferable to measure your temperature each morning at the same time before getting out of bed.

However, if you do not wish to use this feature, you can disable it. To disable the alarm, you should check the “Setting” and navigate to the Alarm setting. You will see the Alarm icon flashing. Press the Up or Down button to make the icon disappear and complete the setup.

Switching from Fahrenheit to Celsius

You can easily switch from Fahrenheit to Celsius and vice versa. Do do this, you need to turn off the thermometer and press the I/O/S button for a few seconds (preferably for a little more than five seconds). You should see a flashing ” —- C” /” —- F” on the monitor.

Next, you should press the Up or Down button to switch temperature units. After setting your preferred temperature unit, the thermometer will automatically go off.

Viewing Previous Measurements

Unlike many thermometers that store only the reading of the previous day, the Multi-Function Digital Basal Thermometer has the capacity to store your readings for the last 60 days. It includes the date, time, and temperature reading.

To view previous readings, you do not need to turn on the thermometer. Just press the up or down button on the thermometer.

  • It is very accurate (measures to the 1/100th of a degree).
  • It is easy to use and can display results within two minutes.
  • It can store up to 60 previous readings.

  • It doesn't work with an app, meaning that you would need to manually record your temperature and draw your chart at the end of your cycle.
  • Some customers find its beeping sound annoying. Unfortunately, the sound cannot be muted because it is meant to indicate that the thermometer is done measuring the user's BBT.

While the Multi-Function Digital Basal Thermometer is a good choice for women tracking their fertility, it has its downsides. Personally, I prefer using a BBT thermometer that syncs to an app so that I don’t have to record and draw my chart manually. However, more advanced BBT thermometers do come with a cost. This makes thermometers such as the Multi-Function Digital Basal Thermometer a better choice for women who do not wish to invest a lot in fertility tracking.
